The University of South Dakota Foundation & Alumni Association announces the appointment of Margaret Carmody as vice president of development. Carmody brings more than 15 years of experience in executive leadership across the technology, nonprofit, government and health care sectors. Her dynamic expertise in fundraising, team development and community engagement is a welcome addition as she steps into this critical role.
Most recently, Carmody served as chief strategy officer at the Washington Pavilion in Sioux Falls, where she led initiatives in organizational growth and strategic planning. She has also held key leadership positions at Raven Industries/CNH Industrial, where she directed communications, brand strategy and stakeholder engagement efforts.
“We are thrilled to welcome Margaret to our leadership team,” said Noah Shepard, president and CEO of the USD Foundation & Alumni Association. “Her experience in development, along with her proven ability to lead high-impact initiatives, will be integral as we work to expand our reach. Margaret’s commitment to building strong relationships with alumni and donors aligns perfectly with our goals, and we look forward to the growth and new opportunities her leadership will bring.”
Carmody holds a master’s degree in executive public administration and a bachelor’s degree in contemporary media and journalism from the University of South Dakota. She serves on the boards of the Sioux Falls Zoo & Aquarium and Dow Rummel Village and is a co-founder of the Power Lunch Mentoring Program for middle school girls in Sioux Falls.
“I am honored to be joining the University of South Dakota Foundation & Alumni Association. As an alumna whose personal and professional life has been deeply shaped by USD, I’m excited to help advance the university’s mission and foster a culture of philanthropy,” Carmody said. “I look forward to working with our generous donors, dedicated alumni and outstanding partners to inspire bold investments in USD’s transformative power and bright future."
Carmody will assume the role in early January 2025.
