The Coyote community raised a record $1.897 million from 1,444 donors during USD’s fourth annual giving day, Feb. 16-17.
“I am inspired by the way the Coyote family came together to support this year’s Unite for USD,” said University of South Dakota President Sheila K. Gestring. “This level of support for our university will enhance our students’ academic and extracurricular experiences tremendously. A sincere thank you to each person who played a part in this success – whether through donation, volunteerism, or helping us to spread awareness.”
For 1,862 minutes, in honor of the year of USD’s founding, Unite for USD brings the entire Coyote community – alumni, students, fans and supporters – together to celebrate the university’s longstanding tradition of excellence and its vision to extend that legacy well into the future. This event demonstrates the power of the collective, as a gift of any size has an impact on students.
The strong showing from the community secured all initial match and challenge gifts, including nearly $200,000 of donor challenge gifts unlocked by overall donor participation. Fundraising ended at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 17 with $1,897,457 raised and 1,444 donors.
