Introduction
In the course of fulfilling its mission to unite alumni, advance the purposes of the University, stimulate loyalty among alumni and promote united and constructive action by alumni on behalf of the University, the USD Alumni Association employs a variety of record keeping systems and collects and uses a variety of information associated with its past, present and future faculty, staff, alumni, students and other USD community members. In addition to observing all applicable privacy and confidentiality laws, the USD Alumni Association respects and protects individual privacy through this Privacy Policy.
Definitions
1. Personally Identifiable Information The University of South Dakota provides selective Personally Identifiable Information about Alumni to the iModules Software Company in conjunction with the web-based alumni community, for the purpose of providing Alumni directory and messaging services.
This information includes:

Alumni have the opportunity to opt-out of receiving e-mail communication by contacting the USD Alumni Association at alumni@usdalumni.org or 1-800-655-2586. If you opt out of receiving e-mail communication you forfeit your access to the web-based alumni community.
2. iModules
iModules Software company builds hosted, web-based solutions for member organizations to manage and develop private online communities between its members. iModules has been selected to develop the web-based alumni community for the USD Alumni Association.

iModules Privacy 3. USD Online Alumni Community
The USD Online Alumni Community refers to all parts of the Web site which are User ID and password protected which may include, but are not limited to, the alumni directory, alumni profiles, message boards, class notes, mentor database and online chat.
System/Service Summary
The USD Alumni Association contracts with iModules for the Online Alumni Community to present a web-based system for features which may include, but are not limited to, the alumni directory, message boards, class notes, mentor database, online chat and event management.
Intended Use
The USD Alumni Association maintains the Online Alumni Community Web site (the “Site”), provided by iModules, for the purpose of facilitating interaction between alumni and helping alumni keep their records current for the University database. The Site is user ID and password protected and may only be accessed by authenticated alumni of The University of South Dakota and approved University and Foundation staff. Users are responsible for the use of their name and password to gain access to the Site and for the use of their information as a result of such access. Users acknowledge that responsibility and agree not to share their password with any other person.
SPECIAL NOTICE: If you do not register for the USD Online Alumni Community and have not otherwise designated your University Database record as private, your First Name, Last Name and class year will be published by default.
Alumni who have registered on the USD Online Alumni Community system will have access to information in the directory but may not use the information they obtain for commercial or political purposes, promotions, advocacy or any other purpose, business or otherwise except to facilitate individual personal communication or business of The University of South Dakota.

Security
The University of South Dakota has many technical, administrative and physical security measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse, and alteration of the information under USD’s control. Detailed security information of the iModules service can be found on the iModules Web site.
The University of South Dakota has partnered with iModules in order to provide a web-based Alumni Directory Service to the USD community. Many of the provisions contained in this Policy are based upon representations made by iModules. While The University of South Dakota believes that iModules is a valuable service to the USD community, iModules is not affiliated with The University of South Dakota. Therefore, USD cannot guarantee, nor does it otherwise accept responsibility for, any portion of this Policy that depends upon iModules’ representations and its compliance with those representations.
Policy Changes
The University reserves the right to change this Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice or consent, but if changes are made, that fact will be prominently and widely communicated to the associated information providers.
